About the role
Figure is an AI robotics company developing autonomous general-purpose humanoid robots. The goal of the company is to ship humanoid robots with human level intelligence. Its robots are engineered to perform a variety of tasks in the home and commercial markets. Figure is headquartered in San Jose, CA. We're looking for a backend engineer to build the services and infrastructure behind Figure's consumer mobile application, including auth, payments, and tooling. You'll own systems end to end, from identity and billing to delivery pipelines, internal dashboards, and the cloud platform they run on. Responsibilities: Design and build the core auth and identity service, including KYC integration. Build payments and billing infrastructure: payouts, transactions, disputes, and reconciliation. Own the media ingestion and delivery pipeline for high-volume data ingestion. Own the cloud platform: environments, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, observability, and cost. Ship the notification system across push, SMS, and email. Build the web interface and dashboards that give the business visibility into tasks, supply, and quality. Requirements: 5+ years building production backend systems at scale. Strong distributed systems fundamentals: APIs, queues, storage, and event-driven architecture. Hands-on experience with payments, billing, or fintech infrastructure. Hands-on infrastructure experience: AWS or GCP, Terraform or similar, containers, and CI/CD.
